The Earth Simulator is version 3 of two predecessors (Earth Simulator 1 and 2, all NEC vector machines).

Description
The Earthsimulator uses data staging to copy data between home and other directories. Generally, storage servers are partitioned for subsets of different nodes. It provides different queues that define how storage is available and shared. One queue allows sharing of the data file system for up to 16 nodes, for large jobs up to 128 nodes can access a partition served by the storage servers.
